Programs and Services
The Elks Lodge is a fraternal organization that provides a wide range of programs and services to its members and the local community. One of the primary focuses of the Elks Lodge is charitable giving and community service. They often organize fundraising events and initiatives. to support various causes, such as veterans' assistance, youth programs, and local charities.
Community
Outreach
The Elks Foundation, and by extension, the Susanville Elks Lodge, contribute to the Elks National Foundation's Scholarship Program and regularly provide scholarships to local students attending Lassen High School. The Susanville Elks Lodge also provides scholarships to children with disabilities by contributing to a program of supporting services to aid these children at no cost to their families. This is the fundamental aim of CHEA's major project, known as the Purple Pig. Other community events include the Americanism Essay Contest and the Elks Drug Awareness Program.
Youth
Activities
In addition to local scholarships, the Susanville Elks host the annual Susanville Hoop Shoot at Johnstonville School to highlight the Elks commitment to America's youth through their annual free-throw basketball contest. In addition to the Hoop Shoot, Susanville Elks Lodge has a plan in place to host the Elks Soccer Shoot program.
Veterans
Support
The Elks are committed to their mission: "So long as there are veterans, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will never forget them.". The Susanville Elks regularly donate meals to the American Legion Post 204 Friday lunches.
Social
Events
Other social events include regular meeting nights for the membership on the first and third Thursdays of the month. The annual observance of Flag Day on June 14th and the annual Spring Fling dance, which is scheduled for March 9th of this year. The Elks Lodge historically has hosted a Monday night football party during football season and regular taco nights.
